Specialized Services

Mountain BOCES provides clerical support to its member districts for special education processes and compliance, serves as the Office of Record for student special education records, and is responsible for the implementation of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act and Colorado’s Exceptional Children Education Act. We also support member districts in providing special education services for students with disabilities in the following ways:

  • Consulting on assessments, eligibility, and all aspects of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), including legal compliance scenarios

  • Problem solving for individual students with disabilities

  • Supplying specialized service providers for students who have hearing, mobility, and vision disabilities.

  • Facilitating special education team meetings for teachers and related service providers

  • Working with parents, advocates, and lawyers

Educators and service providers in member school districts are required to use the online Frontline program to write IEPs and to do Progress Reports. Expand to learn more

Gifted Education Services

Expand to learn how Mountain BOCES supports gifted learners.

Mountain BOCES is responsible for applying for, accounting for, and reporting on state-level funds for students identified as gifted learners. While our member districts identify and address programming, Mountain BOCES provides leadership and oversight that includes identifying students for gifted education services.

For student record requests and translation of records, including IEPs, please contact Shawnna Stamps. Shawnna will need:

  • The name of the person requesting the records

  • Whether you want the records sent via fax or U.S. Postal Service

  • The fax number or name and address to send the records

Missing information will delay the process
