ALTERNATIVE TEACHER LICENSURE
The Mountain BOCES alternative program is a one year teacher preparation program of
study and training approved to offer several teaching endorsements.

Alternative Teacher Licensure candidates must obtain an employment agreement with a Colorado public school as a teacher in the endorsement area for which they are qualified.
Choose Mountain BOCES As your Educator Preparation Program
To be certain you are enrolled with Mountain BOCES alternative program (designated agency) you must email Wendy Wyman your Statement of Assurance (SOA). After you fill out the top section and your district fills out the middle section of the form, email to Wendy to sign off on the bottom of the form. Once completed, Wendy will email the SOA back to you to upload to your online application for your alternative license.

Program Cost
$5,000 for candidates in the Mountain BOCES member districts (Buena Vista, Lake, Park Re-2, and Salida) A $1,300 waiver is available for some teachers. An additonal waiver of up to $1,000 is available for Early Childhood Alternative Teachers.
$5,500 for candidates in non-member districts A $1,300 waiver is available for some teachers. An additonal waiver of up to $1,000 is available for Early Childhood Alternative Teachers.
$6,300 for candidates in Special Education Generalist endorsement program A $1,300 waiver is available for some teachers.

A Financial Hardship Waiver may be available for program participants who are experiencing unusual and unanticipated financial circumstances or serious unanticipated changes in their financial circumstances and are unable to meet the payment obligation.
